After meeting with several contracting companies, we decided to work with Bret Gedryn of Top Shelf. His professionalism, communication skills, and technical knowledge excellent. Throughout our projects, he responded well to our input and concerns. He and his workers were friendly and courteous to us. We used Bret and Top Shelf Construction for a 500 sq ft addition to our home, we added an entire master suite and laundry room. Bret and his team made it easy for us to live in our house throughout the construction process. Bret provided great advice when making construction or design decisions. In addition, we really liked the project management website he uses; it includes a calendar outlining the work to be completed each day, ways to communicate message and preferences for finishes. We are really happy with our new addition!

We bought our first house in America – already overwhelmed by that process and we managed to pick the quirkiest! But it had great bones and we fell in love with it — and that’s where Bret and team came in. We re-modelled every inch of the house (except the kitchen, phase 2) and it was quite the journey especially as it was our first — a journey that we couldn’t have taken without Bret’s calm approach, innovative thinking and humour. Most important to us was that it felt like a real partnership – we discussed design ideas, colours, and creative solutions to tricky problems together. We looked forward to the Tuesday night meetings and Bret took our changes and additions in his stride with time to spare to discuss the Sharks, 80’s music and Game of Thrones. And the end result? Awesome – a high quality result – a true transformation for our ugly ducking house and an experience that was fun. We’ve made a friend in Bret and trust him 100%. When it’s time for the kitchen, Bret’s the only one we will call. Thank you!

It has been 6 YEARS since Top Shelf remodeled my kitchen and I still love it! Bret and his crew were always very professional, on time, clean and had great communication with us. Bret was very helpful in the design as well. Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with Bells Palsy just before we were to start the remodel. Bret was very patient while I was ill. This pushed the remodel into the holiday season. Even though others warned us to make alternative holiday plans I had no worries that Top Shelf wouldn’t finish on time. Top Shelf did a complete gut remodel of my 50’s era bathroom, turning it into a stunning contemporary space that still felt at home in our California bungalow. Bret and his team were communicative, efficient, skilled and a real joy to be around. They did such a great job that we hired them to redo our kitchen the next year. That remodel was trickier, with a small budget and awkwardly laid out space. Once again, the Top Shelf team hit it out of the park. They stayed on budget, delivered on time and spent an extra amount of time to make sure the rest of the house was minimally impacted by the construction. I would literally use them for every project, if I still lived in San Jose. Bret worked with us every step of the way, met with us frequently and coordinated with us with every minor change or problem (no fault of his) that arose. He delivered on time and in budget We interviewed probably as many as 20+ contractors before we came across Bret and Top Shelf Construction. He came highly recommended. We had the larger of our two bathrooms, our kitchen, family room, dining room and hallway totally gutted and remodeled. This included the installation of all new appliances and granite countertops in both the kitchen and bathroom. The floors were replaced in both the kitchen, family rm. and bathroom. The carpets were removed in the living rm. and hallway and the hardwood floors underneath were refinished. New lighting was installed throughout the house. The front porch was given a facelift and all the original old aluminum framed windows throughout the house were replaced with new framed double paned windows.

I worked with Top Shelf Construction on my bathroom remodel. My hall bathroom is a very tiny space, the main bathroom in the house and had water damaged. Brett and Tammy worked with me to come up with a new design, stay within a budget, and helped pick out all the finishes. Top Shelf Construction was able to tear out and rebuilt my bathroom, making it larger, adding a double vanity and bring everything up to code. They were meticulous, efficient and professional. They kept the house clean while they worked and I never had to worry leaving them alone when onsite. The end results of the project is more perfect than I could have imagined – all of their suggestions were point on and everything is very practically placed. I am so thankful for finding Top Shelf Construction and for my new bathroom.

Topshelf construction remodeled our kitchen and our laundry room. They did an excellent job. Bret was here daily to make sure everything was going smoothly. All the workers were very professional. The framers were amazing. We couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Everything looks and works great. They moved our water heater and furnace and now our laundry room has become our studio.
